Family

Zach's dad died last night. For the past 3 days we've been in the city with his family, spending hours in the waiting room, in the hospital room, taking turns sitting up with his dad so his mom could get some sleep. Holding his dad's hand, soothing his brow.

I don't know how they could have done it without their family and friends all around them. Such a tremendous outpouring of love and help. Hearing so many stories of life. His dad was truly a great man. No matter the stories, whether from his early rock star days (and yes I do mean rock star, his dad was in a band, I even got to see them perform in October) to stories of how he took care of his family and those around him. He had a great life and was loved by many.

Now it's my turn to take care of Zach. I know that the man I'm marrying is as wonderful as he is because of his family and especially his parents. I am truly blessed to be included in their lives.

Whether it's the family you're born into or the family that you choose, give them a hug for me.

Shalom
